Upside down, sideways, and oxygen-deprived  – there’s nothing else quite like photographing underwater. Most the normal rules of creating a photograph are thrown out the window because the rules of physical space are completely different.

On Friday, April 1st I will be hosting a Gallery Opening event at Uncommon Grounds Coffee & Tea in downtown Burlington, VT where my documentary Food 4 Farmers photographs are on display. Food 4 Farmers is a non-profit that works with coffee communities in Latin America to address the problem of chronic seasonal hunger. This exhibit offers a window into the daily lives of Nicaraguan coffee farmers and the powerful impact of their work. 

Catherine & Jesse invited me to join them on Valentine’s Day to celebrate Robin’s birthday and create some new family portraits. It had dropped down to -20 degrees the night before, but inside the home everyone was warm. This family knows how to have fun and really loves their dogs. 

The Vermont Commons School is not your average high school. Now accepting 6th through 12th grade, the school is all about community, rigorous academics and engaging students with the world. I was very lucky to spend my high school years at VCS. Highlights from VCS include enjoying science class, writing fully researched 15 page papers, backpacking around New England, tracking wolves in Yellowstone Nation Park and swimming with dolphins in Belize. 

I had the pleasure of documenting what a day in the life at VCS looks like now, and it’s still awesome.
