Food 4 Farmers: Gallery Opening & A Trip to Mexico + Guatemala

On Friday, April 1st I will be hosting a Gallery Opening event at Uncommon Grounds Coffee & Tea in downtown Burlington, VT where my documentary Food 4 Farmers photographs are on display. Food 4 Farmers is a non-profit that works with coffee communities in Latin America to address the problem of chronic seasonal hunger. This exhibit offers a window into the daily lives of Nicaraguan coffee farmers and the powerful impact of their work.

Come enjoy snacks, stellar coffee (special blend: Guatemala Antigua) and meet some superstar coffee folks in support of Food 4 Farmers. The events runs from 5:30pm – 7:30pm, with a short talk at 6:15pm from Rick Peyser, Janice Nadworny, Charlene Farmer-Lewey and myself!

At this event, I will be talking about a very exciting trip that Food 4 Farmers and I have been planning a for a while now – 10 days in Mexico and Guatemala, with a focus on documenting their successful programs, creating portraits of coffee farmers and showing the many different facets of their problem-solving approach to seasonal hunger! It’s been 3 years since my original trip to Nicaragua with Food 4 Farmers, and I’m thrilled to travel with two of the founders of the organization, Marcela Pino & Janice Nadworny, and continue to share their story.

Food 4 Farmers has generously contributed $500 towards this trip, but I need help from sponsors to help get me the rest of the way. With your donation, you’ll be helping coffee farmers and their families, giving a voice to an underrepresented community, and helping create powerful photographs that Food 4 Farmers can use to illustrate their programs. There are a variety of options for sponsorship and rewards: check them out HERE!

A few people have already come forward to help sponsor this trip: Jerry Greenfield & Elizabeth Skarie, Jon & Nancy Wettstein, Adriana Comtois and several anonymous donors. Thank you all so much for your support! It means the world to me and directly impacts my ability to make this trip happen!

Big thank you also goes out to Lynn Monty who wrote up a great article on my work with Food 4 Farmers and put me on the front page of The Shelburne News!
