“I felt a sense of calm that I did not expect to feel on our wedding day. I was nervous to have all eyes on me for sure, but I was so happy to be surrounded by our wonderful families and so excited & comforted to be marrying Garrett that I wasn’t really anxious about anything. I was definitely expecting to be a weepy mess during the ceremony, and got pretty emotional just thinking about it ahead of time. But when I took Garrett’s arm at the altar and saw & felt how emotional he was, all I felt was this need to support him. That was a solidifying moment for me – Garrett has been my rock through so much, and there I knew that I would be able to be a rock for him too as we go through life. ” – Kate
Upside down, sideways, and oxygen-deprived – there’s nothing else quite like photographing underwater. Most the normal rules of creating a photograph are thrown out the window because the rules of physical space are completely different.
On Friday, April 1st I will be hosting a Gallery Opening event at Uncommon Grounds Coffee & Tea in downtown Burlington, VT where my documentary Food 4 Farmers photographs are on display. Food 4 Farmers is a non-profit that works with coffee communities in Latin America to address the problem of chronic seasonal hunger. This exhibit offers a window into the daily lives of Nicaraguan coffee farmers and the powerful impact of their work.
The Vermont Commons School is not your average high school. Now accepting 6th through 12th grade, the school is all about community, rigorous academics and engaging students with the world. I was very lucky to spend my high school years at VCS. Highlights from VCS include enjoying science class, writing fully researched 15 page papers, backpacking around New England, tracking wolves in Yellowstone Nation Park and swimming with dolphins in Belize.
I had the pleasure of documenting what a day in the life at VCS looks like now, and it’s still awesome.
“To us, marriage does not have a specific meaning, it’s more of the result of love and hard work. To not just support each other through life’s challenges, but to help evolve to be a better person every day. And with that, our love for each other grows. Marriage has an infinite amount of sides; from quirky situations to feeling like a child and an adult at the same time. After being best friends for over five years, we have shared every side imaginable. We can’t wait to go through even more the wonderful and weird sides of marriage.” – Jocelyn & Colin
