After adventuring across Paris and reading our vows again in we Switzerland, we travelled by train to Italy and took a water taxi out to the small town of Bellagio on Lake Como. The town is incredibly romantic, with tiny winding streets and historic details around every corner.
Annie & Billy’s elopement at the Inn at Shelburne Farms in scenic Shelburne, Vermont was a magical day filled with touching moments, gorgeous scenery and heartfelt vows. “The sky was painted in breathtaking hues of orange, pink, and blue, and the moon shone as a lonely sickle above the whisping clouds.” – Billy
“Paris was a universe whole and entire unto herself, hollowed and fashioned by history; so she seemed in this age of Napoleon III with her towering buildings, her massive cathedrals, her grand boulevards and ancient winding medieval streets–as vast and indestructible as nature itself. All was embraced by her, by her volatile and enchanted populace thronging the galleries, the theaters, the cafes, giving birth over and over to genius and sanctity, philosophy and war, frivolity and the finest art; so it seemed that if all the world outside her were to sink into darkness, what was fine, what was beautiful, what was essential might there still come to its finest flower. Even the majestic trees that graced and sheltered her streets were attuned to her–and the waters of the Seine, contained and beautiful as they wound through her heart; so that the earth on that spot, so shaped by blood and consciousness, had ceased to be the earth and had become Paris.” – Anne Rice
“We both felt this natural, romantic draw to revisit our vows. It was the first time since our private vow reading on the wedding day that we’d recited them to each other. The unexpected delight was how we had already blurred certain details – revisiting in this intimate setting was the perfect moment and place to do so, and I’ll never forget it.” – Nick
Zhivago is a 13lb rescue dog from Costa Rica – he is incredibly friendly, energetic and adventurous! We borrowed a GoPro from my cousins Stephen & Alix Bower and had Zhivago record our wedding ceremony. We figured the video he would record could really be anything – I might mess up the settings, everything could be upside down or be video of someone’s shoes, etc – but we were totally blown away by the fantastic and hilarious footage he captured!
On Saturday, June 22, 2019, Nick and I married on the solstice in South Hero, Vermont. This place is very close to our hearts, and I was honored to stand on the same timeless rocks and shoreline that my parents, and many other family members exchanged their vows on. Just a few days earlier, a huge storm had come through the area and knocked down trees and the lawn was collecting puddles. Thanks to the help of more than a few people, everything pulled together and we had a wonderful windy, sunny day.
In “Parks and Rec” the character of Leslie Knope declared that, “February 13th, Galentine’s Day, is about celebrating lady friends.” This was accompanied with a brunch that honored female friendship, camaraderie and waffles. Inspired by this sentiment, Kelly Golia Events and Kate Murtaugh Events + Design brought together an incredible team women to host a Galentine’s Day celebration at The Tannery Loft.
“Aside from the ceremony itself, our “first look” was the most calming and meaningful moment of the day for me – all the anticipation and nerves of the morning melted away as soon as we saw each other, and it was incredible to just take a breath, be together, and acknowledge that the wedding was finally upon us.” – Lizzie
“I love the memory of the moment we snuck away from everything and walked back to the platform in the vines where we had stood hours before during our ceremony. We sat on the platform and just watched the crowd inside–the lights changing colors, the people dancing, the fire pit embers burning down–I’m grateful that we took the time to sit and really soak it all up before the night was over, because it does go by in a flash. Someone came outside and as they opened the door, we heard the DJ announce the last dance–so we went sprinting back inside to catch that last song with our people. It was the perfect end to the night.” – Dani
Dani & Nate held their rehearsal dinner at a private home in Stonington, Connecticut the night before their July wedding. The light was stunning as it streamed through the trees, lighting up the fields and scenery. The catering by 85th Day Food Community was incredible, featuring all local ingredients and a clambake dinner that sent me right to heaven. Toasts and gifts were given at dinner and this intimate evening was a great way to spend quality time with those key people before the big event.
