This editorial at Warerworks was a dream! Led by Jaclyn Watson Events, each vendor came together with a shared vision to create a chic, organic, neutral color palette modern wedding inspiration.

Waterworks is a venue and restaurant set atop the Winooski River, with views of waterfalls. The building was originally The Champlain Mill in Winooski, and was completed in 1912 as part of the American Woolen Company’s expansion. Built in the Italianate style with brick from Drury Brick and Tile Company of Essex Junction, it is the newest of the four textile mills at Winooski Falls. The style of the space is a mix of modern and industrial with high windows to illuminate the space.
A Neutral Modern Wedding at Waterworks
The design of the editorial was based on a neutral palette, with a focus on black and dark gray as one of the main shades. A mix of dried florals, dyed florals (including the palm frond), and delicate blooms perfectly represented that mix of modern and chic style we wanted to explore. The table was set with black candles, organic shaped plates, with dried florals on each napkin set atop a soft geometric tablecloth.
The stationer Christa Alexandra Designs designed a unique and modern invitation suite, printed on her century-old iron cast Chandler & Price Letterpress. As she was designing the suite, she experimented with creating individual clay menus for each setting – each piece of clay was shaped, pressed through the letterpress, and hand-painted!
Aja & Alex wore bespoke gold jewelry by Rackk & Ruin, with Aja in a black gown, Bennet by Tara Latour, and Alex in a white gown, Grace Vagabond Bridal.
Black Accents and Gorgeous Gowns
”Whoever thinks black isn’t a wedding color is sadly mistaken. Black, when included with a stunning neutral palette, can act as a pop of color, or the perfect accent color of a wedding. This dark and modern wedding inspiration shoot is proof of just that. By choosing a modern neutral palette for this wedding shoot, the details in the table decor, florals, and stationary looked sleek and detailed.
And yes, we have to talk about the two wedding gowns paired with beautiful pink, white, and black bouquets. Both gowns are long and flowy, but have their own personality—a sleek white off-the-shoulder dress and a black v-plunge neckline with a long train. If you’ve been searching for a wedding with a dark aesthetic, then here’s the inspiration.” – Junebug Weddings
Macaulay Lerman of Wood & Ether created an amazing video piece of the day.
