Cecilia & Mo married on warm November day at the Bigelow Chapel at the Mount Auburn Cemetery followed by an intimate dinner at Bondir Cambridge in Boston. Cecilia & Mo both have a background of architecture and design, and brought their artistic style to this chic, intimate wedding.

“We got engaged in June, and we began to think about dates for the wedding shortly thereafter. We already knew we wanted to have a small, intimate wedding either at the end of the year or early the following year. As we started to explore our venue options, we started to come around to the idea of having an autumn wedding. Sharing warm, hearty food with friends and family, with a backdrop of fall foliage all sounded so alluring.

We loved the idea of getting married right in our neighborhood, so we initially just searched for local restaurants that could host our small ceremony and gathering. Bondir immediately became our top choice after we went there one night to have a delicious meal in a wonderfully cozy setting. But, after learning that the chapel at Mount Auburn Cemetery had just opened after renovations, we quickly decided to hold our ceremony there while keeping our dinner reception at Bondir. We have been on many walks through the cemetery during our dating years, so we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get married in that setting with the leaves changing colors all around us.” – Cecilia & Mo

After getting ready at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge, Cecilia & Mo exchanged their vows in the Bigelow Chapel which was an enchanting location for a wedding with its soaring spires of Quincy granite and Gothic Revival structure. “The ceremony seemed to come and go so quickly that we barely had a chance to soak it all in at the time. It wasn’t until we stepped away from it, to take photos in the chapel’s balcony, that the whole experience first truly hit us.”

Hearing words like this always brings me a lot of joy, as my goal for the portraits portion of the wedding day is to make beautiful portraits that feel like your relationship and the moment, and provide space for my couples to soak in the experience.

“The most moving moment of the day came just before the start of dinner, after all the guests were seated. As food was being served, we found a brief moment just to tell ourselves how happy we were to be together, and how much we loved each other. That moment was fleeting, but so touching.

Our dinner, or rather the entire dinner experience, was our favorite part of the day. The dinner turned into a whirlwind of experiences that all came together around the extraordinary meal chef Jason Bond and his team put together for us at Bondir. The periods between each of the carefully choreographed five food courses had everything from moments of pure joy, to stories from our past, to conversations filled with laughter. At one point, there was even a libation fueled conga line! It was a wonderful evening, and we are so happy we got to share it with our close group of friends and family.” – Cecilia & Mo

I asked them what advice they would offer other couples planning an intimate wedding.

“Focus on what is most important to you, and don’t sweat all the details. We had our wedding within a few months of getting engaged, and the shorter time frame forced us to make decisions quickly. We prioritized the things we really wanted, and directed our efforts to making sure we had those in place. Once the key items were locked in, we just made sure the rest of the things fell into place by being a little bit flexible with our planning strategy.
