Maggie & Charlie married on Saturday, September 29th, 2019 at All Souls Interfaith Gathering in bucolic Shelburne, Vermont. You may recognize these two from their Mountain Top Engagement Session on Mount Mansfield.

“We knew we wanted a fall wedding, so we were thinking about a rich color palette for the visual theme. We didn’t want to compete with the venue’s natural beauty, so we kept decorations simple on purpose.  We also knew right away we wanted to celebrate in Vermont, where Charlie grew up.” - Maggie

While Maggie and her wedding party were getting their hair and make up done at the Indigo Salon, Charlie’s gents made sure he was looking his best. Afterwards, they took advantage of some free time with a game or two of Bocce!

With a little help from her sister and mom, Maggie put on her Cassia Gown by BHLDN. The final touch to her look was a sash intertwined with her grandmother’s necklace.

After getting ready, Maggie & Charlie had their first look down by the lake where they read their vows privately. This was the most emotional moment of the day for the couple. For Charlie, “After more than a year of planning, the mix of joy, apprehension, and relief came together at the first look.”

“Not only was it really special, it was so important to have that time for just Charlie and me. The whole weekend is a happy/wonderful/exciting blur of family, friends, and events. Setting aside time to say our vows to one another and process them was very meaningful. We were able to let our guard down and enjoy the tenderness of the moment.” - Maggie

Now they were ready to say these words in front of all their family and friends!

The reception tent and cocktail hour overlooked rolling hills, the Adirondack mountains and Lake Champlain.

As the sun began to set behind the mountains, a golden glow moving across the water, many wonderful toasts were made. In one touching moment, the father of the bride presented Charlie with the cork from the bottle of champagne he opened when Maggie was born.

In the dusky blue of after-sunset light, we took a few minutes to make portraits. In asking them what advice they would have for other couples planning a wedding, Maggie suggests, “Incorporate elements that are meaningful to you, and REALLY don’t feel bad about tossing out the rest.”

For Charlie, “Have some fun with it. It’s easy to get sucked into all stress of planning, but make sure to take time and have fun along the way.”

Back in the tent, dinner was finishing up and the DCQ Project was ready to get the party started.

A rare moment for me - some fellow Skidmore Alumni took a photo with me on the dance floor!

“I love looking at the photos I wasn’t present for and seeing the experiences of family and friends. I also truly love the details shots.” - Maggie

An amazing wedding with a truly wonderful couple!

“It isn’t enough to say Julia is an excellent photographer.  She knew our day-of schedule and the photos we wanted better than we did. She was there in the moments we needed an extra hand. She was extremely professional while being warm and kind. Several wedding party members remarked they were impressed she was out on the dance floor in the thick of it. She will capture truly candid moments as well as the posed shots. Our photos came beautifully packaged and looking through them brings back all the joy of the day!” - Maggie & Charlie
