Brigid & Max married on a lovely August day at Bliss Ridge Farm.
“When we started planning we were excited by the fact that everyone we love was going to be together for the weekend- we wanted to really enjoy that, and have the day authentically reflect who we were. I think having the wedding be “us” became a guidepost through the planning process.
Ultimately we chose our venue because we loved the space- the 360 views of our favorite VT mountains, the stunning beauty of the barn, and the ability to work with someone like Jordan throughout the experience were all very important to us. Jordan was wonderful at offering suggestions and guidance while letting us put together day that felt true to what we wanted.” – Brigid & Max
Brigid is an amazing artist, and she designed a beautifully whimsical wedding suite.
“I was very surprised how emotional I found myself while getting ready. I think it was the most heightened my anticipation of the day was, and I was simultaneously so happy to be with my sisters, friends, my Mom and Max’s mom and at the same time felt like I couldn’t wait to see Max (which for me meant a few tears and not being able to catch my breath a couple of times!). My mom pulled me aside and gifted me a beautiful opal ring that was hers, and before that her mom’s, and before that her mom’s mom- and that was SO meaningful to me.” – Brigid
”Our first look was a very special moment in the day. I felt an amazing sense of calm after I laid eyes on Brig and was just so excited to spend the rest of the day and lifewith her. “ – Max
After the first look, we took all the group and family photos – and Max’s wedding party loved the florals so much they wanted a shot with all the bouquet’s! As the guests began to arrive for the ceremony, Brigid hid away with her party to share a nip and read her vows one last time.
“The most emotional moment for me was probably our ceremony— it felt so intimate and relaxed, while at the same time I felt very aware of the gravity of what we were doing and how important to us it all was. When the music started and Kate (the first bridesmaid to walk out) started down the aisle, I just remember my breath catching and saying “it’s happening!” to my parents. Definitely surprised I wasn’t weeping the entire time, but instead I think all of that translated into being very present and sure. From walking down the aisle to hearing the ceremony Molly created, to sharing our vows- my heart was racing the entire time. There was so much love and laughter and pride and support during the ceremony and I loved that.” – Brigid
“I will never forget the walk down the hill to the cocktail party after the ceremony. It was amazing to watch our wedding happen from afar, as if we were flying overhead just taking it all in before we “arrived”. “ – Max
“Another moment that I found very emotional was during the speeches from our sisters. They were so thoughtful and I had overwhelming pride and gratefulness to have Liz, Caileen and Liza in our lives at that very moment.” – Max
The Udder Guys served up delicious ice cream for guests. “I loved seeing the tricycle, watching people eating ice cream, eating ice cream with Brig, it was a magical touch to the night.” – Max
I asked Brigid & Max what advice they could offer other couples planning a wedding.
”Max’s sister recommended meditation as a way to practice being fully present, knowing how fast the day was going to fly by and how many little moments you have with everyone that you want to remember. I loved this advice. It also was very helpful for me the night before the wedding when I needed to calm down and get to sleep!
Brigid’s sister talked about how much of a team her and her husband were on their wedding day. There are SO many people there for both of you, but it’s so important to keep finding each other or sticking together as much as possible so you can both enjoy the magic of the day together.
And lastly, a friend of ours recommended finding a moment to step away (whether that’s right after the ceremony with your bridal party, or just the two of you sometime during the night) so that you can take it all in- we found this moment by taking some sunset photos and it was really nice to have some solo time together later in the evening when we were both feeling like the luckiest, and relaxed and loving all of the love in the air!” – Brigid & Max
“Something we really valued was how personal Julia’s approach to photography is, even from afar since we live in Boston — we loved when we FaceTimed and Naani (our cat) kept trying to get involved and step in the way- we felt comfortable from the start of the call and clearly had her approval too! I loved our call with you pre-wedding where we ran through the schedule and it was just this really nice reassuring moment that you were on our team, had an awesome vision for the day and were able to ease some of our nerves. Day of, I loved that it was so much more relaxed than I was anticipating – I expected to feel more nervous or hyper aware that I was being photographed and instead it all felt so natural!” – Brigid
