Night Ferry

I met Forrest a few weeks ago and was fascinated by his life story. I decided to take a chance and see if he might be interested in creating an image with me. Thankfully, he said yes.

The images here are based on Forrest’s experience returning home after being absent for a long time. I wanted to use a night ferry as our setting because they hold weight – literally and metaphorically. They are a huge steel and concrete structure that has the power to transport you across a body of water, with all of your possessions, with a view of where you’ve been and where you are going.

I was surprised when, after we finished the shoot, Forrest said he isn’t a huge fan of having his picture taken. The best people to work with are always the one’s who are just themselves, and not quite as aware of the camera.

I haven’t decided which image I’ll be adding to my series, Anisocoria, maybe the last one. Let me know which one is your favorite!
