Gillian & Michael's All Souls Shelburne Vermont Wedding

Gillian & Michael married on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at scenic All Souls in Shelburne, VT. The couple described the visual theme as Nantucket meets Vermont Rustic Chic, "Dusty blue hydrangeas were the initial visual inspiration, which I have always loved and reminded me of Nantucket where I would go with my family growing up and is a place Mike has since grown to love. Hydrangeas led to a natural, organic color palate of blues, greens and creams.  Once we found our venue, the beautiful backdrop of Lake Champlain and the rolling green hills were the ultimate inspiration and pulled our theme together better than we could have imagined."

The day began with Gillian going on a hike up Mt. Philo with her Maid of Honor, "then was filled with nervous and excited energy getting our hair done and getting dressed and ready at All Souls…all while anxiously awaiting the First Look. Leading up to the ceremony was so special to me because I was with the women who mean the most to me. It’s such an incredible and humbling feeling knowing that everyone is there to celebrate your relationship and marriage.

The First Look was, of course, a favorite moment. After a day full of preparing to see your soon to be hubby, it is almost a relief to finally be able to see, touch, kiss the handsome person you are so lucky to be marrying. Knowing that there were going to be limited moments in the day when we were alone, I tried to soak in as much of the moment as I could.

If I had to pick, the ceremony itself was my favorite and the most emotional moment of the day. Despite spending time with Mike at the First Look, the nervous and excited energy was recharged as I waited in the wings, holding onto my mom’s hand far too tightly. This is a moment that, as a woman, you have thought about all of your life. It was almost an out of body experience looking down at myself as the moment finally came to fruition. I always thought that I would cry during the ceremony but honestly I was too happy/overwhelmed/in the moment that I was strangely calm. Best moment.

I cannot articulate how incredible the speeches were, the food was delicious, the band was rockin’ … I couldn’t help but look around the dance floor and smile. I still smile thinking about it."

Gillian & Michael wanted their wedding to be a fabulous party, priorities being good food, good booze and a good band. "We knew we didn’t want to get caught up in the typical wedding planning stress, so we decided from the beginning to have fun with the planning and to not take anything too seriously. People remember the energy and not the details." When I departed the wedding around 10pm, bottles of champagne were still being passed around the dance floor while Josh Panda's band had everyone on their feet - safe to say, they definitely accomplished their goal!
